I had an informative and inspiring weekend surrounded by women. I went to a “Dee… Stress and Be Happy” conference for women on Saturday. The all-day event included lots of treats (healthy and not so healthy), four workshops and a nice lasagne lunch for $25. Is that a great deal or what? I thought so too.
As soon as I found out about the Dee Stressing workshop I approached a few friends and strongly encouraged them to come with me. Mostly for selfish reasons: A/ I wasn’t brave enough to go alone and B/ If it were bad we could share in the misery and “dee stress” by complaining about it.
It turned out to be a nice day of connecting with other women from a wide variety of ages and backgrounds. The key note speaker was Cate Gibson, a professional speaker and life coach of sorts. She seems to be what has stuck in my mind the most since leaving the conference.
Her entire discussion was positive and invigorating but four statements she made really seemed to hit home for me and I’ve been sharing them with everyone ever since. They relate to so many things and situations in our lives. Here they are:
“What are you waiting for?”
“I’m enough.”
“Happiness is an inside job.”
“Savour compliments instead of deflecting them.”
Tell me you can’t relate to any of these? For the next twenty-four hours mull them over. Print them off and post them somewhere. They are excellent affirmations for anybody, young and old, or fat and thin.
