National Novel Writing Month

If you don’t know about National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo as it is affectionately called by it’s participants, it is a yearly writing challenge that started in 1999. For the month of November every year participants write like mad to achieve the collective goal of a 175 page (50,000-word) novel.

NaNoWriMo is similar to our BIW challenges in that all that matters is output, not talent and precision. Last year they had 79,000 participants sign up. It’s a tough challenge, and 13,000 made it to the end. It doesn’t matter what your writing skill is or what country you live in. All you need is a computer, internet service and the drive to make it to the finish line.

Now is the time to sign up. There is even a forum thread set up for BIW members.
