I was contacted to review Pump Pouches, the “amazing wraparound toe cushions” that are being marketed as “the ballerina’s secret”. I’ve worn them three times and honestly if ballerinas are wearing these no wonder why their feet hurt.
I found the Pump Pouches to be hard, uncomfortable, and definitely not one size fits all. I have size 9 feet and they are pretty narrow for a fat person and they are tight, unless completely barefoot. I wore them with my two inch boots. Most of my shoes are open toe so the boots were the only option.
The Pump Pouches are meant to cushion the toes and forefoot whether you are wearing stilettos or flats but I find them more restricting (this part I could see being beneficial to a pointe dancer) than comforting. My toes didn’t feel cushioned at all with the “luxurious soft-gel cushions”. And I found it made my feet incredibly warm — something I don’t need if wearing shoes all day. After a couple hours I was happy to remove them from my toes.
The Pump Pouches are manufactured by Profoot, Inc (made in China) and the suggested retail price is $10.99. At the time of this review Drugstore.com has them for $7.69.
