John Middleton says
My husband and I had recently moved to the state capital where his corporate offices are located. I have always been shy, a handicap for rising executives. I had avoided too many social gatherings over the years!
Today I was determined to be on time and dressed fashionably for the coffee at Mrs. Wilson’s home; but already I was running late. And I just could not pull my wardrobe and accessories together. The new curls in my hair looked out of place. The plaid A-line skirt was a bit too small. Curses!
I finally settled on a yellow linen dress with a silk scarf. Thank goodness it was spring. My cordovan leather shoes would be comfortable. The hubby would be pleased to see the pearl earrings, an anniversary gift.
He was a globe-trotter and always brought me a gift, even if nothing more than a box of chocolates from France. I am eternally grateful for the gift of botox treatment to rid me of hard-earned wrinkles.
I passed the mirror-test and headed to Mrs. Wilson’s full of confidence and determined to enjoy myself.
