What To Do With Old But Wearable Clothing
This weekend, I got a wonderful email from a woman looking to find a new home for her post weight loss clothing. Anytime you want to perform a closet cleaning, here are a few suggestions for what to do with old but wearable clothing.

Dressed for Success
- Dressed for Success would love any of your career, work or business attire that you have in plus sizes that you are no longer using. If you haven’t heard of them, they are a non-profit organization that provides “interview suits, confidence boosts, and career development to low-income women”. There may be a location in your area or a facility you can mail a box to.
Re/Dress
- The second option is to donate/sell the clothes to Re/Dress. It started out as sort of a swap meet for plus size clothing. It has turned into a top site for second hand plus size clothing! If you live in the area, you may make a few bucks or you can mail them your donations for their next upcoming extravaganza.
eBay or Facebook Marketplace
- And if you have the time, patience, and inclination you might try posting your items on eBay or Facebook Marketplace. For convenience and time, I suggest posting everything as a “lot” of clothes. Each lot should be divided by specific sizes. Definitely list everything under one auction if making money is not your focus. IF you have some choice pieces you would like to make some income back from, then list them separately and don’t be afraid to ask for more than what you’d like.
Repurpose, Repurpose, Repurpose
- If you have a crafty bone in your body then get out those scissors and get cutting. You can repurpose old jeans into skirts, bags, book covers, and blankets. Old dresses can become shirts. Old tees can be cut down and be made into quilts. The options are deliriously endless. Don’t sew? Or don’t want to? Then you can donate the fabric to a sewing or quilting circle. But nice and cut it into 4″ to 8″ to 10″ squares for them.
If you have other suggestions for second hand clothes please leave them in the comments! I’d love to read them.
Submit them for giveaway on The Great Clothing Exchange! I just wrote a post about it last night.
