Is it a tunic or is it a dress? I don’t know why but lately there is this mislabeling that is really driving me crazy. A tunic is not a dress, a tunic is a long top that usually hits about the connection of the leg socket/hip junction. Can a tunic be worn as a dress? No, if it can be worn as a dress it is not a tunic. Can a dress be worn as a tunic? Sure,a few short dresses can be hiked up, belted and worn as a tunic.
The Cotton Silk Embroidered “Tunic” from Anna Scholz is not a tunic, unless a tunic means something completely different in the UK (which is entirely possible since there are many words that do). This is obviously a dress and a very cute one at that. Could you wear it with leggings and boots? Yes sirree but it is still a dress. Leggings does not a tunic make. But it does makes a cute outfit. But personally I’m loving this boho dress with bare legs and cute sandels. It comes in sizes 18 to 28 for £185.

I think there is a ‘lost in translation’ think happening here; our school uniforms (dresses) were always called tunics.

That is interesting! I’m assuming you’re in the UK too? I guess we are going to see a lot of this with the opening up of worldwide shopping. And I think it is going to be confusing for the select few who think they can wear the long top/tunic as a dress — I’ve already seen it; unfortunately. Which of course totally fights with my belief that people should dress how they want to dress, you know the “no rules” thing… oy! Thanks for posting.
