I stopped at Shopper’s Drug Mart to get some sunscreen lotion for my face and before I even arrived at the suntan isle I came upon the Sally Hansen Salon Effects display with over twenty different patterns and colors to choose from and was instantly mesmerized by all the cool patterns but most especially by the pink “Booty Camp”. I made the decision to give it a try in less than three minutes.
The small box of Salon Effects contains 16 real nail polish strips, a cuticle stick, a mini file with two different grains on one side and a buffer on the other.
I decided to work from my pinkies to my thumbs (the literature recommends thumbs last). The very first nail I messed up because I took the wrong backing off first. There is a white backing and a clear covering over the pattern. The first one destroyed I was happy there were 16 more chances to get it right. Lucky for me I did not make anymore mistakes and have five more nail strips leftover in case one comes off.
Overall the whole process took me longer to do than painting my nails. But, I could never paint a pattern like this on my nails AND when I was done, my nails were dry and ready to go. I still need more practice because I did not stretch them to the sides of the nail enough (or matched the sizes incorrectly but it is only noticeable if you give a good hard look. I absolutely love the pink combat pattern. Salon Effects are fun to put on and I have gotten many compliments over the last three days about how cute they are.
The Salon Effects nail polish strips are real nail polish, when you open each packet of eight strips you can smell the polish, not super harsh or anything, just recognizable. According to the box you need to use them up as they will dry out — that means my extra strips might not be useful for long which is unfortunately. I wish they had used three packets instead of two for this reason. The strips are supposed to be easily removable with nail polish remover but I would like to get in another seven days before I give that a try.
While I think this is an awesome product it is a bit pricy for every day use, making wet polish the more economical choice; but nail strips would be a great special occasion change and a great alternative for anyone who is not too handy with a brush and polish. Salon Effects can cost anywhere from $8 to $11.

That is such a cute color, my daughter would love it. It’s nice that they come with extras also, I’m sure one of us would make a mistake or two.
