Continue On Saturdays Writing Prompt

The gist of it is simple. I give you the start of a line/story and you continue on. This week:

“Take the hook out of its mouth,” my father said as he held the five inch Perch in one hand and the line in the other. I tried to grasp the base of the hook with my thumb and forefinger without touching the slimy mouth of the fish. Every time it grazed me I let go and pulled my arm back. “You have to be fast, before it suffocates,” he said before letting out a breath and doing it himself. He dunked the fish in the lake water and released it while I leaned over the edge and watched it swim away. “You’ll get the next one, John.
