Igigi's Janus Dress

Igigi sent me the plus size Janus dress from their Spring Awakenings Collection to share with you. I don’t think I have reviewed a dress in a while and it seemed like a perfect time. This dress is made of the usual polyester/elastane combination which is both forgiving and flattering (not to mention comfortable).

I love the cut of this dress and that it looks like I have a shrug on but don’t. Like almost all of their dresses, this one is lined, and I do not know how they do it but their linings always manage to stay in place. When I was younger I hated lined dresses because they seemed to work their way up around the waist — never had that problem with an Igigi dress. (Coach bag courtesy of my friend Lana — thanks Lana!)

Another favorite aspect is the crossover twist of fabric in the front which they call a “princess knot”. I find it to be incredibly flattering and a wee bit shaping. It does a good job of covering up the ruching seam too.

I love the simple v-neck that offers up enough skin but does not make me self-conscious about whether or not my bra is showing; at the straps or at the peak. Were it not such a hot day I probably would have worn a necklace but I tend to become homicidal when I have something around my neck in high humidity — at the very least downright cranky.

It just so happened that Julep sent me a gift of coral bobby pins in my last Maven box and they color matched perfectly with the coral poppies on the dress. I do not wear much in my hair because well, it I don’t have much and it generally does not stay, but these little cuties stayed put all day. I even forgot about them.

On the downside, I did find this dress a bit too warm for a hot summer day. It is dry clean (not even you can hand wash if you really need too directions). Fit wise it does go up a little more in the back than I would like — thank you butt shelf — although not as much as I thought it would — the fabric is very forgiving.

Another view of the hemline and my white legs, just in case you were not sure they were really that white. Another reason why I tend to prefer maxi dresses.

Overall, I love this dress, right down to the coral poppies and grey back splash. There are only a few sizes left in this style but Igigi has many other beautiful options for summer available and arriving.
