The Web Issue
Last week I received an email from Baihley Grandison, the Assistant Editor of Writer’s Digest, letting me know that Book-in-a-Week.com (BIW) had been selected for the “101 Best Website for Writers” May/June 2016 issue of Writer’s Digest. The Web Issue.
This was exciting news of course but I wanted to let it sink in before sharing it with you and I also wanted to pick up a print copy to see it with my own eyes.
To be honest, I have not read an issue in some time. Not because I haven’t enjoyed the magazine in the past, but because I just was not finishing any kind of magazines. I stopped purchasing it to save money.
After ten minutes of trying to find it on the newstands at Chapters, I was surprised when I picked it up to find a much thinner magazine than I remember. I am not sure if this is because of it being the web issue or if this is an ongoing trend with the magazine.
Perhaps it is time for more of us to revisit what historically has been one of the best writing resources for writers. If you prefer print, you can get a 1 year subscription in the United States for $19.96 or a 1 years subscription in Canada (and international) for $29.96. If you have wholeheartedly embraced the digital age you can get a digital subscription for $9.96! A one year subscription is eight issues. Now that I am reading more on my tablet I am going to have to revisit a digital subscriptions.
If you just want to see you can buy it at the Writer’s Digest site for $6.99 (See? A digital subscription is a bargain!)
This is not the first time BIW has been on the pages of Writer’s Digest picks for best websites. We were fortunate enough to be honoured with spots in their 2006, 2007, and 2008 editions.
