Soak Up the Sun by Sheryl Crow
One of my all time favourite songs is Soak Up the Sun by Sheryl Crow. I was listening to it the other day (it’s on my Up Song playlist). At the time, one line stood out for me: “I don’t like diddly squat”. I immediately thought I need to make an art quote for it.
That was today’s project. I got out my paper, pencil, eraser, ink pens, and ruler. Five pages later I finished and decided I was ready to share it.
When I was putting this post together, I learned pretty quickly, that no, what I thought I heard is not the line at all. If you know the song, you probably already realize the err I made. It’s actually: “I don’t have diddly squat”.
As soon as I read the lyrics, I knew that was indeed the proper quote. I find it hilarious that, at the time, my subconscious mind would substitute “like” for “have”. I’m sure there is something I should explore there with some personal self-discovery but that is for another day.
Anyway, I stand by my original enjoyment of the half quote. Here it is, if you want to pin it.

My penmanship and planning needs some work but it’s has been awhile so I’m forgiving myself. Overall, I am happy with how it turned out.
And if you feel the urge to listen to Sheryl Crow’s Soak Up the Sun or, if on the off chance you haven’t heard it before, here you go:
